Calling to elect Marie

Help elect our great Green candidate from the comfort of your own home.

We have three incredible candidates standing in Dunedin - Aaron Hawkins, Marie Laufiso and Pat Wall. Aaron and Pat are hard at work on the campaign trail but Marie has just experienced a family bereavement and needs our help reaching out to voters - we need to let them know how great she would be on Dunedin City Council!

Can you help us get Marie elected by calling voters?

What do I need? You just need a computer, internet connection and a phone. It can be more comfortable if you have access to a headset (with mic) but not a requirement!

But what about using my own phone - won't calling to Dunedin cost me money? Our ‘’ system will pick up all costs of calling, so you won’t be using your cell phones minutes. If you'd like to contribute to these costs we'd really appreciate it, but the most important thing is that we get out and talk to voters!

Ok, how do we talk as a team for the briefing for this calling session? RSVP and call-in details will be emailed to you a couple of days before the session. You'll need to download a small easy plug-in called ‘zoom’ before the calling session (this download shouldn't take more than 5-10 minutes and works in the same way as Skype).

But how will I know what to say? We'll send out more information on Marie and the Green Dunedin campaign a couple of days before the calling session so you have time to read over it, at your leisure. We'll also be running a live training at the start of the calling session - so if you're not familiar with Marie's campaign or haven't called using ‘CallHub’ before, please join promptly at 6pm to get the full benefit of the training. We'll also keep a line open between all of us throughout the calling - so we'll be with you the whole way through.

Here's a bit about Marie Laufiso in the mean-time:

Maire Laufiso is a first time candidate. A proud Dunedin-born Sāmoan, she was raised in Brockville, a suburb in Dunedin, where four generations of her family still lives. Marie is standing because she dreams of a Dunedin where this city's vast wealth and resources can be equitably accessed by every child and young person regardless of her or his family's background, ethnicities or social status. Marie Laufiso has spent most of her adult life working as a community worker and has a proven record of working for peace and justice both here and overseas. She is currently the South Island vice-president of P.A.C.I.F.I.C.A. Inc. and secretary of the Brockville Community Support Trust. If elected, Marie seeks to bring “from the margins” challenges, innovation, and positive thinking to the Dunedin City Council.
